Delete your account

This page is for closing a Statlet account — the address you proved, and everything that hangs from it. It is reachable without installing anything, because Google Play requires that and because somebody who has already uninstalled the app should still be able to ask.

Most of Statlet needs no account at all. An account here is not a login you need in order to use the app: it exists because a report needs somewhere to send the answer, a vote needs to be one per person, and Pro granted by hand needs somebody to grant it to. If you have never signed in, there is nothing here to delete.

How to ask

Write to apps@gpm.name from the address you signed in with, and say you want the account closed.

The address is the check. Deletion is irreversible, so a request that cannot be tied to the address it names will get a reply asking you to send it from that address rather than being carried out. If you no longer have access to it, say so and we will work out what else can prove it.

Expect it to be done within 30 days, and normally within a few days.

Signing out inside the app is not this. It withdraws the key on this phone and leaves the account where it is, which is what you want if you are handing the phone on rather than leaving.

What is deleted

• Your address, and everything that points at it by name.
• Your sign-in key, everywhere it is still valid.
• Your name, if you gave one, and your place on the supporters list if you asked to be on it.
• The link between you and anything you reported, and your votes on feature requests.

What is kept, and why

Bug reports and feature requests stay, with your address removed from them. A bug is a bug once it has been reported, and a crash somebody else is still hitting should not disappear because the person who found it left. What remains cannot be traced back to you: the row loses the link to the identity rather than being deleted with it.

Payment records stay for as long as the law requires. A subscription bought through Google Play is Google’s record as much as ours, and an invoice is not ours to erase. Cancelling a subscription is separate and happens in Google Play; closing the account here does not cancel it, and cancelling it does not close the account.

Crash reports and usage statistics are separate, and closing the account does not switch them off. They are not tied to your address — they are keyed to an install — so there is nothing there to delete along with it. The switch that stops them is in the app, and turning it off stops future collection.

What is not ours to delete

What is on your phone. Your icons, what they are set to watch and every value they have shown are yours and are only there. Deleting the app removes them; closing this account does not reach them, because it never could.
